Almost Midnight Finals Event!

Every year, the Student Dormitory Council (SDC) hosts the Almost Midnight Breakfast the night before reading day. Faculty and staff put on their serving caps and aprons to serve free all-you-care-to-eat breakfast food for hungry and stressed out students. The goal? Bring joy to finals week and allow students a time to relax and de-stress with food and friends. In the past President Suresh and many others from University leadership have volunteered for the event. And this year was no different. President and Mrs. Jahanian both volunteered, serving fruit and french toast on the buffet line. Directors of Housing and Dining Services Tom Cooley and Pascal Petter as well as several deans (and assistant deans) for the College of Fine Arts and Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences and Housefellows from the Office of Residential Education were visibly present, whether with omelet prep or actually making the omelettes. Funded entirely by SDC’s dorm fee collected from all dorm students, the event has become a CMU finals tradition, bringing students and faculty closer together. Because at the end of the day, we at CMU are all here for one another. And seeing all the meaningful conversations and smiles on everyone’s faces, that is exactly what SDC is – building a better [CMU experience] for all.
