First and second-year Tepper students recently attended the Reaching Out MBA (ROMBA) conference in Minneapolis. One student reflects on the power of LGBT spaces in MBA programs. On October 11, 2018, the LGBT community will mark the 30th anniversary of National Coming Out Day. While there have been some significant improvements in how LGBT people […]
Hello everyone. I am Kshitija Deshpande – First year MBA at Tepper. I am from Mumbai, India.
Every year, the National Black Association hosts a conference and a career expo for MBA students for internship and full-time opportunities. While there were many of us from Tepper – both first and second year – I was one of the international first-year students who decided to brave the rapid waters of National Black Conference in Detroit, Michigan. It was held at the Cobo Center in Downtown Detroit.
I became a busy person because I say “Yes” at lot. When you say “Yes” as frequently as I do, you end up constantly busy and off to exciting adventures. Stay tuned to see what Tepper MBA adventures I say “Yes” to next.
I’m going to say something a little controversial: Tepper’s analytics didn’t come in handy this summer. I benefited most from my one-on-one coaching with Accelerate, network of peers, and Managing People & Teams course.
If you had told me 10 years ago that I would be doing brand management marketing for a consumer packaged goods company, I would have had a few questions for you. That would seem pretty crazy to me since at that time I was in undergrad studying logistics and marine transportation.
My internship at Deutsche Bank has flown by! At of the time of this article, I only have 3 weeks left before I head back to the world of student life. Here are some of the insights I have gained during my brief stint working in investment banking. What are you doing at an investment […]
Real talk. By all practical, statistical standards, I fall into the Tepper engineer demographic. From a personal standard, I can wholeheartedly tell you that, while I embrace my ultra process engineer tendencies and deep love of manufacturing, by no means am I the classic Tepper student looking to work in tech. I don’t own an […]
In June 2017, months before I started classes at Tepper, I attended a women’s MBA conference through the Forté Foundation. At the conference, I bonded with my future classmates, listened to lectures from powerful women, and met a variety of companies, including DaVita. I had seen the name DaVita around Massachusetts and knew that it […]
Full disclosure, I entered Tepper without an engineering degree and had no idea how to code. But despite these seemingly “required” skills, I landed an internship as a Product Manager for a top tech company. It wasn’t a fluke and it also wasn’t an easy journey. I often have prospective students ask me, “How did […]
As graduation draws closer and as peak week events begin, I can’t help but look back at the journey Usman and I started two years ago. In July 2016, we were back home in Karachi, Pakistan, trying to pack our entire lives into a few suitcases. We were excited about coming to the U.S. for […]
For some people, the ideal summer means lazing around on a beach with a mojito in hand. For others, it means outdoor sports and energy drinks. If you’re like me, you can combine the two by continuing your flip flop adventures on a kayaking tour in downtown Pittsburgh. And boy, what a beautiful journey it […]
Summer is finally upon us and in Pittsburgh that means bringing out your grills, your outdoor yoga pants and most importantly, your flip flops. The city offers so many things to do that it’s probably going to be hard to decide which direction to go first. If you’re a senior with family flowing in for […]
Like so many cities, Pittsburgh is a city born of annexing smaller towns as it grew from a fort on a strategic river route to a steel powerhouse to the “meds’n’eds” tech city of today. These towns evolved into neighborhoods over the years, and you’ll find that a lot of Pittsburgh residents are very passionate about their neighborhood of choice.
Springtime is an exciting time of year: birds are singing, flowers are blooming, (snow is occasionally falling, to general disappointment), and admitted MBAs are arriving on campus to get to know Tepper better before they start in August. Their two-day immersive experience is run by the Admissions team and a seven-member student committee and staffed by current students, faculty, and administration to make it an exciting introduction to MBA life.
An hour’s drive outside of Pittsburgh lies Ohiopyle State Park, which offers a fantastic collection of hiking trails, white water rafting and fishing. Since the weather was simply amazing this past weekend, a few of us seized the opportunity to go hiking. We started off by scaling the first leg of the Baughman trail, stopping […]
