My first (virtual) case competition

One of the rights of passage of an MBA is participating in a case competition. Case competitions give you the opportunity to put the theoretical knowledge you’ve learned in the classroom to use! But as a part-time, virtual, or distant learner, it can be challenging to get the same experience.

Recruiting while Working while Going to School

I often joke that I don’t know what “hobbies” are now that I’m in school part-time while working full time. Of course that’s not completely true, I’ll always find time to go hiking and to scope out the newest gelato store in San Diego where I currently live, but it’s true that there are less free hours in the day. Which is why, it’s daunting for many part-time students to think about setting aside any time or mental capacity for recruiting, when they are already balancing work and school (and keeping alive children or pets).

Embracing Uncertainty: Deciding the Path to Success

On the eve of our first access weekend, I gathered my newly purchased school supplies, charged my laptop, looked in the mirror and thought to myself, “What on earth am I doing?”

From Part-time to Full-time

Tepper School of Business | Life at Tepper Student Experience Blog

There are not many programs like the Tepper MBA that allow you to switch almost seamlessly between both part-time and full-time versions of the program, a feature (if you will) that I benefited from just a few months ago. My MBA journey started as a part-time student. I spent two years giving up some evenings […]

Welcome Weekend!

Springtime is an exciting time of year: birds are singing, flowers are blooming, (snow is occasionally falling, to general disappointment), and admitted MBAs are arriving on campus to get to know Tepper better before they start in August. Their two-day immersive experience is run by the Admissions team and a seven-member student committee and staffed by current students, faculty, and administration to make it an exciting introduction to MBA life.

Japan is fascinating!!!

Between crystal toilets and many many sushis, sakes, and matchas we discovered one of the most amazing cultures that I have ever experienced.   During the spring break, I went to Japan with a group of 41 people, my husband included. We were guided by an awesome group of classmates, including 5 who are Japanese […]

As of last Monday, I officially relinquished my position as the VP of the Part-Time Graduate Business Association. It was an extremely humbling year of serving the part-time community. I could not […]
