More than 300 campus and community organizations showcased at the Fair
This past Wednesday 9/5, SLICE (Student Leadership, Involvement, and Civic Engagement) hosted the annual Fair at Carnegie Mellon. What was previously known as the Activities Fair, the Fair is an extension to the Activities Fair with not only showcasing the 300+ Student Government approved organizations but also a broader selection of cultural and community partners in the Pittsburgh community including organizations like the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust and any individual departments and resources on campus. This year, the Fair was held in the Cohon University Center between Rangos Ballroom and Wiegand Gymnasium. And it’s always a super amazing time where all the organizations come together as they welcome the class of 2022 (as well as any upperclassmen looking to join something new)!
What’s even more significant for me is that the Fair marks the one year mark when I became a blogger for Life@Tepper. Time has been flying as I look back on the year and the posts I’ve written. Feel free to check out my first post and past writings! As I had written a year ago about taking time to reflect on my then-junior year status and being open not to limit myself, those words still hold true (if not truer) to me now as I enter my last year (and last everythings) at Carnegie Mellon. But as what someone has told me rather than thinking about the ‘lasts’ (and thusly giving into the inclination to dwell on the past) to use this as an opportunity to appreciate the senior year experience even more and make the most out of the relationships and moments.
So I guess as I begin my career search journey and Honors Thesis I remind myself, and I quote from myself a year ago, to open myself up to everyone even if I know that it might be the last time I see them in the school setting. And also that we’re just one tiny fish in the big sea of fish, out in the big world. While what we do might matter a great deal to us, it’s nice to be reminded that there we’re not out here alone.
And as a shoutout to the class of 2019+, go out there and embrace this moment! Carpe diem, it’s our time!
