The Undergraduate Marketing Organization presents: Marketing Week

Marketing Week

The Undergraduate Marketing Organization (UMO) is a collegiate chapter in the American Marketing Association that aims to provide students professional opportunities of educational, social, and real-world projects to explore marketing and business. Students in UMO come from a variety of majors, including business administration, decision science, statistics, economics, and many more.

UMO hosted its annual Marketing Week last week, from October 23 to 27, focusing around its theme of ‘Marketing in the Age of the Internet of Things’. The week started off with a kickoff event on Monday, in which the UMO executive board members tabled in the University Center to promote the event. From Tuesday to Thursday, there were three exciting company presentations for students to learn about how digital marketing strategies and IT are leveraged in different companies. On Tuesday, the CFO of Topscore talked about software marketing and the outbound sales process. The speaker also shared with the students his past experience as a product manager as well as his current role as a CFO. GEICO’s Regional Marketing Associate joined UMO on Wednesday to talk about his experience and role in GEICO’s newly-launched local marketing department. Last but not least, Dick’s Sporting Goods came on Thursday and gave an exciting presentation about how it has been adapting to the changing consumer behavior patterns with its digital transformation strategies. The VP of Media, Manager of Digital Transformation, and an university recruiter represented Dick’s Sporting Goods at the event. On the last day of Marketing Week, UMO posted a series of polls and media content online to wrap up the week.

UMO’s Marketing Week was a great opportunity for students to meet professionals in the field and learn about how the business concepts and cases learned in the classroom are applied to companies of different sizes.
